Go For No by Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz

I love audio books because I can listen while I drive or just relax.

If you're in sales and marketing, this book is a must-read. It will turn your thinking upside down. Instead of counting your sales, you'll have more success by counting your no's. The book is short and an easy read or listen to.

Dr. Maroon is a neurosurgeon, triathlete and author. And for the last 20 years, he's been the team neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In The Longevity Factor, Dr Maroon explores how nutrition, exercise and resveratrol can activate genes to increase endurance, reaction time and memory.

Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us by Seth Godin

Tribes by Seth Godin is getting lots of buzz online. I'm looking forward to learning what it's all about. Here are a few quotes . . .

Publishers Weekly:
"Godin argues that lasting and substantive change can be best effected by a tribe: a group of people connected to each other, to a leader and to an idea. Smart innovators find or assemble a movement of similarly minded individuals and get the tribe excited by a new product, service or message, often via the Internet (consider, for example, the popularity of the Obama campaign, Facebook or Twitter). Tribes, Godin says, can be within or outside a corporation, and almost everyone can be a leader; most are kept from realizing their potential by fear of criticism and fear of being wrong."

Former U.S. senator Bill Bradley:
“Tribes is a must read for all of us. It’s up to each one of us to lead in today’s new kind of world.”

The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale

I ran across this list from Norman Vincent Peale. It was published in the St. Albert the Great Church bulletin on June 22, 2008. And it reminded me of his book: The Power of Positive Thinking.

Ten Guidelines for Dealing with People
  1. Learn to remember names. A person's name is very important to him or her.
  2. Be a comfortable person so there is not strain in being around you.
  3. Learn to be easygoing so things won't bother you.
  4. Don't be egotistical; don't give the impression that you know it all.
  5. Learn to be interesting so people will want to be with you and get something stimulating from you.
  6. Get the "scratchy" elements out of your personality.
  7. Drain off your grievances. Honestly try to heal every misunderstanding you have.
  8. Work at liking people until you learn to do so naturally. Sure, everyone has faults; overlook them.
  9. Never miss a chance to say "congratulations" or to give support at a difficult time.
  10. Develop a spiritual depth in yourself so you have something to pass on to the people you know. Learn how to share this strength with others. Learn how to share this strength with others.

Planet Earth - The Complete BBC Series

I started watching Planet Earth as it aired on TV. I was fascinated with all the animals and places that I've never seen in person. I now have a new respect for nature and survival of the fittest. The landscapes were breathtaking - Everything from the mountains, to the deserts to the ocean. Planet Earth is timeless and a good addition to a DVD library.
